Morgan’s story

I have been working for Allerton for almost 7 years. I started my career as a volunteer whilst at school, before going to part time through college and then full time once I finished.

My plan was to only stay in care whilst I was at college and then move on to something new, but the reason I decided to stay was because I love the job, the staff, and the people we support.

I decided to apply for a Senior Support Worker role around a year into working full time as I wanted to expand my knowledge and have new challenges within the company. Being a senior helped me to step up and mature quickly as I had to support other staff members, help with the management team, and help the people we support in new ways.

I eventually was promoted to Team Leader after 2 years of being a Senior Support Worker. I wasn’t sure at first that I would be able to do the job as I had had no previous management experience, but the support that I was given at the time really helped me to grow into my new role and understand what is expected of me.

I have really enjoyed the challenges and new opportunities that have come my way and I can see myself staying with the company for many more years to come.

Sam’s story

I have been working with Allerton for 2 years now. I began in an administrative job and through my role I became more involved with systems and eventually started helping other parts of the business with systems projects.

This led me to apply for the role of Compliance and Systems Executive, working across the business. My role now includes assisting with audits, troubleshooting systems and working on IT projects.

In my new role I have been involved in many projects and have even started to run my own. The knowledge I have gained has been fantastic and it has helped me gain new confidence in many areas.

Allerton have funded an IT A+/networking/security Course and an IT project Management Course for me, which I am completing currently. The ability to be able to learn new things focused on my role is great and having an opportunity to gain new skills is always something I have valued. The possibilities truly have been endless for me so far, and I feel that the success of my role has been heavily influenced by the time and effort the company have put into me as an individual, not just an employee
